Tom Dutton of Halliday Clark is awarded the RIBA Presidents Medal
RIBA President’s Medals 2024 | Celebrating talent and promoting excellence in architectural education. Tom Dutton joined Halliday Clark Architects in September 2024 after completing his masters degree at the University of Liverpool. We are trilled to announce his achievement alongside his fellow students, Bethany Clarkson, Xhesika Biçaku, and Sam Beckwith Flint - congratulations to you all! Their Part 2 project The Consumption of Landscape: A Grand Tour for the 21st Century has received the Silver Medal Nomination for the RIBA President’s Medals 2024.
Architectural Work Experience
Students visit us from all around Yorkshire, usually through their school experience week for Year 10s and Sixth Form, as well as university students. All are interested to gaining ‘in practice’ experience and guidance with their career aspirations. Every student is given a brief at the beginning of the week which they work through. Each day comes with a different task they must complete and the aim, by the end of the week, is to present their project and process to the Halliday Clark team. As you can see below, each student brought different ideas to the table and have designed something unique!

Reimagining Bradford Arts Centre
The redevelopment of Kala Sangam Arts Centre - a Grade II Listed building and Bradford’s old GPO - will be a key cultural capital milestone of Bradford’s UK City of Culture delivery in 2025; removing physical barriers and opening access throughout this important heritage space to all. Modern Family Home with a new Grand Design
22 years on from the completion of our Clients modern family home, Halliday Clark look back on the Heleine House residential project. The property received the RIBA White Rose Architecture Award in 2001 and was featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

A Guide to Architects Plans
A guide to architects plans begins with a floor plan, this is essentially a slice through a building level viewed from above. A site plan captures the whole of the site and is a to scale aerial view. An elevation is a two-dimensional drawing of a vertical element of a building. A cross section is similar to a floor plan in that it takes a slice through a building. There is very good reason why a Chartered Architect takes a minimum of 7 years to qualify, involving two degrees, 2 years professional experience and the completion of a programme of rigorous exams, accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Anyone calling themselves an Architectural Consultant or Architectural designer is unlikely to be an Architect and will not have the comparable skills and knowledge.
