The development of a new build eco home on the site of the northern collection of outbuildings.

The concept behind the scheme was to recreate the three sections of the existing outbuildings which were defined as a 1½ storey garaging building with its roof pitch running east/west, a central section with two small gables which face south and a third section to the eastern end of the site which is formed by a single monopitch structure.

Consideration has been given to the forms of construction, together with the heating and ventilation strategy for the building which has been based on targeting a Passivhaus standard and potential accreditation.

This involved super insulated wall constructions, a permanent background ventilation system with heat recovery wood-burning stoves for space heating, triple glazed window and door units and a highly airtight completed building envelope.

Completed in 2015, this project received the EnerPHit Certification and received several local Civic Society awards in 2016 including Best Restoration Project, Sustainability Winner and Best Project.
